Frequently asked questions
Is the timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?
Classic UNIX timestamps are in seconds, but JavaScript and some APIs use milliseconds. Check the length: 10 digits is usually seconds, 13 digits is milliseconds.
What time zone is used?
Timestamps are absolute points in time; the tool shows both UTC and your local time so you can interpret the value in context.
What is the epoch?
The UNIX epoch is 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970. A timestamp counts the seconds elapsed since that moment.
